Project Data
Our project contains four separate, but related, data streams described below
Comment Metadata
-
All organized interests (non-profits, banks, corporations, governments, universities, etc.) who commented on proposed rules from 2000-2021
-
Each organized interest is connected to a base entity
-
This represents a massive step forward in our understanding of how organized interests influence public policy - we can connect every variant of, for example, Bank of America or the trade association SIFMA back to the original entity itself!
-
This last step would not have been possible without the dedication of RAs and the research support of the Salem Center at the University of Texas, Austin. This step took us years!
-
Meeting Metadata
-
All the organizations who met with the SEC and the SEC staff at those meetings
Evidence-Informed Policy
-
All academic studies (and their associated metadata) cited by the SEC from 2000 - 2021
SEC Employees
-
All employees involved in the rulemaking process
